NASA SUITS Competition Participant
Spacesuit User Interface Technologies
NASA SUITS (Spacesuit User Interface Technologies for Students) challenges students to design and create spacesuit information displays within augmented reality (AR) environments. As NASA pursues Artemis – landing American astronauts on the Moon, the agency will accelerate investing in surface architecture and technology development.
In 2021, I was the lead developer on our NASA SUITS team. The goal was to develop an augmented reality UI on the Microsoft Hololens 2 that would interface with the astronauts EVA systems including the suit and lander.
These were the specific goals for the UI to accomplish.
Here’s a video of our unpolished working map controlled my hand movements and voice control along with biometric displays in my Hololens 2.
