The Process

With our Masters of Innovation Innovation Design cohort in 2018, we partnered with Johnson and Johnson to do design sprints and improve some of their product lines are innovate new ones. With J&J, we ultimately decided to concentrate on improving their Light Therapy Acne Mask. The product had bad reviews and was not resonating well with consumers. Our insight was that not only was the experience not optimal, it was a huge missed opportunity because for the length of the treatment, they had their customers attention. With this insight we rebuilt the mask to connect to a smartphone and have system similar to Google Cardboard built in. The VR aspect let the interaction of the treatment become an experience and journey instead.
